Appointment Procedures

Scheduling:

Please understand that appointment times are reserved specifically for you and your animals. If appointments are repeatedly postponed, rescheduled, or canceled because of finances, scheduling conflicts, or lack of preparation, priority scheduling status will be lost.

-I will message you one week before our scheduled appointment to confirm dates & times.

-Before leaving the property, I will schedule your next appointment for the next 6 week rotation. I do not work on weekends, Monday-Friday only.

-I try to allow enough time for the appointment to give my full care and service to each animal, as well as deal with unforeseen circumstances.

-You will be notified if I will be more than 10-15 minutes behind for our appointment.

Cancellations & No-Shows:

I operate on tight, localized routes and depend on a set number of horses per day to make my living. I understand when things happen in life that are unexpected, like sick animals or family emergencies, and I try to give grace because I care deeply about my clients and their animals. Last minute cancellations and no-shows hurt my business. I show up with respect for your time and your animal’s needs, please consider me in doing the same.

-Please notify me at least 24 hours or more if you are unable to make our appointment or need to reschedule.

-Less than 24 hours notice for cancelling appointments or no-shows will result in a $25-50 missed appointment fee.

-Emergency cancellations will be handled on a case to case basis.

Working Conditions:

In order for me to work efficiently, it is important for you to recognize your ownership responsibilities. As the horse owner, you are the primary care provider. Your frequent cleaning and inspection of your animal’s feet and legs, and following my farrier recommendations, will help make the trimming process effective. Your animal is my priority and their needs are my main concerns.

-An appropriate place must be provided to trim. It must be level, free of manure, dry, and well-lit, with shade from the sun if possible during hot months.

-Horses/donkeys must be ready and caught with halters/lead lines attached, reasonably clean, dry, and well mannered by the scheduled appointment time.

-Please clean off any mud from your animal’s legs and hooves before I arrive to the best of your ability. Mud, especially red dirt clay, ruins clothes and tools, and is not nice to work with.

-If your animal needs to be sedated for the trim, I will notify you with my ETA so you have proper time to give the sedative and allow it to kick in before I arrive.

Horse Behavior:

This is not directed at any client in particular, this is just a reminder. I understand if an animal has an off day, we all have those. But if a dangerous behavior is a recurring issue and my safety is at risk, we will need to have a conversation about how to handle trimming without anyone getting hurt.

-I work with every animal patiently and give them room to communicate what they need. Some animals have arthritis, old injuries that cause pain, or achy and stiff joints that may cause them to lose balance or need breaks. I accommodate each horse depending on what they need.

-BUT animals that deliberately kick, yank their hoof away, bite, drop their hoof or weight down onto me just to get out of getting their feet trimmed, will put me in harms way and will not be tolerated. My body is my most important tool. If I get seriously hurt, I can’t take care of my clients or work to pay my bills.

-It is your responsibility to train and/or discipline your horse if they are misbehaving.

-If  farrier work cannot be finished due to misbehavior, I recommend you call in your veterinarian to sedate your horse/donkey. This may result in rescheduling your appointment.

Payment Policy:

-Payment is required on the same day services are rendered and must be completed before I leave the appointment location. I accept cash, check, Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, and Zelle.
